William Dalziel was born in May, 1888, to local surgeon, William Dalziel, and was one of four brothers Charles Sutherland, William himself, James and Stanley) who went to the High School and fought in the war.

It is not clear what he did after leaving school but records show that he sailed across to America in 1908, and became a farmer in Canada.

On 22-Sep-1914 William signed up for service with Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force, and served with the 9th Battalion, 3rd Brigade of the Canadian Field Artillery.

What happened after this is not known, but he is believed to have survived the war.
