A book about the school

3 August 2004

I've been keen for some time to bring a lot of what is on the Web site, along with other material, to a wider and more "permanent" forum.

About a year ago I decided that I would start looking at producing a book about the school's history and to pin its publication either on the 120th anniversary of the founding of the old Boys High School in 1885 or the 70th anniversary of the opening of the school at Harton in 1936. This would mean publishing either in 2005 or 2006. However, personal time constraints might make this a little on the tight side.

The new developments of the school make me think that this is an excellent time to document the school's history (including the new buildings) and perhaps 2007 or 2008 would be a good target date for its publication. I'd be interested in any views or offers of help to achieve this - whether such offers are from old boys or girls of the school, parents of pupils at the school at the moment, pupils themselves, staff or ex-staff, I don't mind - please contact me if you have any thoughts or offers of help.

I already have a book format laid out, and some ideas for the contents, but while I can get to 1970 with only a little help, the thirty years since then are not well covered.

The intention would be that any income from the book would be used to cover costs and a contribution to school funds.
