Welcome to the Guestbook Feel free to add messages relating to the site and the school. The only rules are: real names only, no personal attacks and no unrelated messages (inappropriate messages may be edited/withdrawn without warning). It would be appreciated if you gave an email address, where you now live and said when you were at the school, but you don't have to. Plase note that if you click on an email address below you will need to replace ~DOT~ with . and ~AT~ with @ in your email program. The Guestbook presents these this way to avoid email address harvesters collecting your email addresses from the page. I know it's a pain, but it's very much better than the alternative.

Hello Neale and all the regulars, I found myself in a bit of a quandary last evening, while watching the game. As a current Torontonian and former Angelino my loyalties were somewhat divided. Say 51% for Toronto and 49% for L.A. However when I tuned in and found Toronto in the lead, I found myself to be a loyal, devoted and lifelong fan of Toronto. Unfortunately they couldn't hit the ball for toffee and the only thing the Manager could do was wait until the camera was on him and spit out his tobacco juice. The only Toronto player who really impressed me was Kirk, the least athletic looking of anyone else on the field. But he looked like he meant business every time at bat. But I should mention Guerrero, who looked as though he wanted to be there and tried his usually successful best. It occurred to me that Toronto might be better off using cricket bats, instead of baseball bats. I'm sure the 'Merch" shop would be disappointed with all those leftover 'Championship Winners' tee shirts, hats etc. So I'm now left to my part time fanship of the Mariners and NUFC. Howay the Dodgers, Alex

On the odd chance that anyone is still interested, The LA Dodgers squared the series in Toronto last night in dramatic fashion. Coming into last night's game six, Toronto, who had won Wednesday night's game in LA and were leading the series 3 to 2, needed one more win to clinch the series. Before a frenzied Toronto home crowd the visiting Dodgers were leading 3 runs to one in the bottom of the 9th inning. Toronto had runners on second and third bases and one man out,so they need their next batter to bring both of these runners home to tie the score. As an analogy imagine playing rounders as we did at school. On the next pitch the batter sent the ball deep into left field and right into the glove of the left fielder. Two out. The fielder immediately fired the ball to third base and caught the batter charging from second base. He didn't make it and was tagged out. Three out and game over!! The home crowd were stunned to silence. The thousands watching in Los Angeles were jubilant. So now it's do it all again tonight in game seven. This time there will be a winner, even if they have to play all night. On that note I think it is only fair to allow our man in Toronto to report on the final outcome. So it's over to you Alex. Will it be pain or glory?

Neale...and the Blue Jays won again, they only need one more win. I watched the last half of the game, that's because I was out for coffee with one of my girls. But I have been a real fan for most of this week. Howay the Blue Jays Alex

As an add on to Alex's entry, the game he was watching was game 4 of a seven game series. Tonight is game 5, still in LA, with the teams tied two games apiece. Then it's back to Toronto with one of the two leading 3 to 2. So one of the two can win it all on Friday, with a seventh game unnecessary. Bear with me. It's only a game. Let's go Blue Jays!

Hello All, Just finished watching the baseball and being a Toronto resident and quasi-fan, I’m delighted that they won and I think they’re playing again tomorrow in Toronto, so it will be much worse than the usual mayhem in downtown. One of my sons-in-law was lucky enough to get a reasonably priced ticket (in excess of C$400) and he was offered C$1000 for it at the same party. He refused of course and he hadn’t been to a game since Toronto last won the World Series about 35 years ago.I always thought that it was rather presumptuous of the Americans to call it the ‘World Series’, when the competition was restricted to only North American teams. That was until I read somewhere and some time ago, that the name derived from the New York World newspaper and I continued to believe that until tonight, when I thought I’d be smart and let all of our readers in on the secret. So I was chagrined to find the (still dubious, IMHO) rationale for its title. Apparently it was called the ‘World Series’ because there was so little baseball activity occurring elsewhere in the world and with no international interest in the game. Thanks Alan for the correction, of course I knew there were only 20 teams in the Premier League, but I am so enamoured with the Mariners that I was looking at their league table when I was writing my email, but they’re still top, having won 10, drawn 2 and lost only one game to Macclesfield !!!! Howay the Jays, Howay the Mariners, and Howay United (Newcastle, that is) Aaaaarrrrrraaabest, Alex

I don't suppose that there are too many baseball fans out there in Guestbook land but last night, in Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, we witnessed one for the ages. What a game! Let me set the scene. After two games in Toronto of the 2025 "World Series," a best of seven game matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers, the teams were tied one game each. Onto LA last night, the first pitch was at 5.00 Pacific time. After the regulation nine innings the teams were tied 5 runs each, round about 9.00 pm. To break the tie, extra innings were called for and at midnight, after having played 18 innings. Freddy Freeman hit a home run for the home side to win the game. A seven hour marathon! Toronto fans suffered the loss at three o'clock this morning! And they go at it all again today with game four AT 5.00PM, still in LA. And the stadium will be packed. So let's go Blue Jays. Canada needs this!

there are only 20 places for teams in the Premiership so,hopefully, neither Newcastle or Sunderland will suffer being 22nd or lower. Alan W

Fourth isn't bad either. But on a different subject, on Facebook there is a group called "South Shields Photos old and new" to which I recently sent a picture of Marsden Rock as it was before what I called a "calamity." This produced some comments that may interest some of you.

EEEEEeeeeekkkkk !!!!! I'm having conniptions !!!!! Sunderland higher in the league than Newcastle. Young whippersnappers, the lot of them. It's. the end of the season that counts and I don't care if NUFC finishes 21st as long as Sunderland are 22nd, 23rd or 24th. Next season we may have to contemplate Middlesborough being in the mix. Regards from a sunny, fall leaf-changing day in friendly North York, Alex
