MEDD, Victor
There is no direct evidence that the details here refer to the same Victor Medd who went to Westoe Secondary School, but the relatively unusual name suggests that it is likely. Victor Medd was the son of draper's assistant (and later, furnishing salesman) John and his wife, Kate. It isn't known when Victor attended Westoe Secondary School, nor what he did on leaving. Also, little is known about his military career, other than he served as a Private with the 10th Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry, and was killed in action on 16-Sep-1916 in the Somme. He is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial. |
