ROBSON, George

George Robson was the son of Yorkshire Mechanical Engineer, George Robson, and his wife, Hannah. George junior attended the High School from the age of 6,and won a Junior Scholarship in 1894. He left at the age of 13 to attend "Fitters College", going on to be an apprentice Mechanical Engineer. He served with the Seaforth Highlanders, and was wounded in action in Sep-1916. During a viscious attack while in action (probably in the Battle of Passchendaele), he was shot and killed on 20-Sep-1917. He is listed at the Tyne Cot Memorial, just east of Ypres. |
