RAMSEY, Watson
These details may be those of the same Watson Ramsey who went to Westoe Secondary School, but there is no direct evidence other than a match in the military records on a relatively common or incomplete name. Watson Ramsey was born the son of Mark Watson and Elizabeth Milburn Ramsey. His father was a photographer's assistant, eventually becoming a photographer with the railway company. Watson attended Westoe Secondary School from the age on 13, in 1907, and left in 1909 to be a clerk/accountant. He served in the war as a gunner with the Royal Garrison Artillery, attached to the 53rd Heavy Artillery Group. Watson is believed to have died on 3-Feb-1917 of wounds received, and is buried at the Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery, a couple of kilometres west of Ypres. |
