TUCKER, Lionel Louis Clerici

Lionel Louis Clerici Tucker was the adopted son of Frances Georgina Tucker, wife of Albert James Tucker. Albert died in October, 1902, and Frances was the manageress of the County Boro' Club in South Shields (later called The King Street Club). Lionel joined Westoe Secondary School in 1908, leaving a year later to become an apprentice fitter and engineer at Readhead's in South Shields. He joined the Northumberland Fusiliers as a Private and, in May, 1915, received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant. On 1-Jul-1916 he was reported missing, and was believed to have been killed. He is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial, in the Somme. |
